So today marks the day, 45 years ago, that Canada adopted the flag that we know and use today. Red, white, and a maple leaf!

We are going to the computers in the library this morning.
ASSIGNMENT:
1. Click this National Flag Day document, which will open on your computer.
2. Complete the assignment, print it off and hand it in!
3. If you are finished early, go to www.freerice.com. On the top right, click CHANGE SUBJECT, under GEOGRAPHY choose WORLD COUNTRIES. Take the quiz. The more you get correct, the more rice you will donate to a country in need.

WHY STUDY SOCIAL STUDIES?

The WHY STUDY SOCIAL STUDIES assignment was handed out today. Remember, it is due in class on Monday February 9th. Please see me in class for an example.

We reviewed what geography is and how we use it everyday! We then started writing down what history means to each of us, and any important events, people, places that we have or want to know more about.

Remember, Social Studies combines both history and geography and allows us to study the past, present and even predict the future! Hope this helps start off your assignment!

Finally, please bring pencil crayons to class tomorrow, as we will be starting our mapping exercises.

see you tomorrow

If you missed class today, we signed out our textbook: Canada Revisited. Please see the librarian if you did not sign one out.

We also watched a clip about geography, and brainstormed some ideas about what geography is.

See you tomorrow!
